Tribute to Mondrian
Piet Mondrian was a pioneering Dutch artist best known for his iconic abstract works featuring interwoven grids of black lines and blocks of primary colours. From around 1920, he developed a distinctive visual language known as neoplasticism, marked by arrangements of vertical and horizontal lines forming rectangles and squares. His signature compositions, such as “Composition with Red, Yellow and Blue,” use only red, blue, yellow, black, and white, creating a precise balance and harmony. These grid paintings reflect Mondrian’s search for universal order and purity, influenced by the De Stijl movement. The interplay of colours and lines in his works evokes both movement and calm, presenting a new vision of modern abstraction that still inspires art and design today.
