Hide and Seek

After sketching eighty-four flowers in a painstaking documentary study—an exercise both tedious and void of imagination—I found, surprisingly, a quiet reward. The practice nurtured my drawing technique while inviting me on gentle journeys deep within the petals themselves, momentarily setting aside the flower as a mere subject.

Through careful study of texture, the subtle dance of colours, and delicate graphic patterns, I discerned a remarkable likeness—especially in the irises, amaryllises, and other blooms from our ornate bouquets—to the furs of creatures like the giraffe, tiger, and zebra.

Thus, in a series I named Hide & Seek, I sought to capture the elusive sensation of the chameleon: not a literal depiction, but an impression, an artistic whisper of graphic mimicry and camouflage.
